CLEAR Regulatory Excellence Team Award

Council on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation (CLEAR), 2023

In 2023, the Ahpra Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Strategy Unit - the team I led as National Director - was awarded the Regulatory Excellence Team Award by CLEAR at its Annual Educational Conference in Salt Lake City. CLEAR is the international peak body for professional and occupational licensing and regulation across North America and beyond.

The award recognised the Unit's body of work in embedding cultural safety and anti-racism obligations into Australia's national health practitioner regulatory framework - work that CLEAR identified as a model of regulatory excellence with implications for licensing and regulatory bodies internationally.

I was interviewed for CLEAR's Regulation Matters podcast as part of the award recognition, speaking to an international regulatory audience about the Australian approach and what it offers to other jurisdictions navigating similar challenges.
